about

"With a sleeve shrouded entirely in black except for the murky outlines of a skull, its obvious that Shift inhabit a deep dark place. What is more surprising is the varied genre skipping nature of their recordings. Opener ‘Ghost Tone Ten’ deals in clanging slo-mo techno with pumping lo-end bass the odd orchestral stab just to make you think of the Art of Noise. ‘Time Waits Until Plants Wake’ is a skittering skidding burst of early days drum and bass while ’Tigers Upon Her Heals’ moves along with a battering tom-tom, skuzzy synth and a gong.

Its techno, I suppose - but not as we know it. ‘Jesus Christ Super Techno’ is as squelshy as putting your foot in a plimsoll full of jelly, whilst closer ‘Sear’ is stretched out voices, piano and otherworldly hiss exemplifying the bold variation on display"
